Who are The Guardians? Leveson Inquiry Under Scrutiny November 26, 2012

Lord Justice Leveson opened the hearings on 14 November 2011, saying:

The press provides an essential check on all aspects of public life. That is why any failure within the media affects all of us. At the heart of this Inquiry, therefore, may be one simple question: who guards the guardians?

Lord Leveson will publish his report on the 29th November. The report has been “examining the culture, practices and ethics of the media… and will make recommendations on the future of press regulation and governance”.

Once this report is published it will set the stage for Parliament to place statutory regulations upon the UK’s ‘free Press’ which currently regulates itself.

In a TV interview on October 7th Mr Cameron said: “We have got to have a free Press. They have got to be free to uncover wrongdoing, to follow the evidence, to do the job in our democracy that they need to do. But on the other hand, it is quite clear people have been abused, people’s families and lives have been torn up by Press intrusion. The status quo is not an option. I fully intend… to put in place a sensible regulatory system.”

All this has run out of the phone hacking scandal in 2007 and now, on the back of this inquiry the Government will probably have justification to enforce strict regulations on the press to protect the privacy of the public. . .

[Sarcasm mode] Thanks dear Government. What would we do without you and your generous protection and care? I will feel so much safer to go about my business in private, knowing that our media are controlled by you. I trust you to look after me.

What a load of nonsense. Hypocrisy abounds like an agitated kangaroo between the lines of this story which may further muffle a supposedly free press, already too stifled to squeak about anything other than the dreary goings on from politics to celebrity that we are fed on a daily basis.

Who are these ‘Guardians’ that must be guarded of which Leveson speaks? Surely our Government is our appointed guardian or does the Media stand higher or, because this is going through the Legal system to be resolved, perhaps they are our true Guardians?

If you think yes to any of these things then you are out of your mind. No, it’s people like Sir David Bell – Guardian of Common Purpose, The Media Standards Trust, The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, Hacked Off and Full Fact. A man who heads up the Leveson Inquiry, self selects our top civil servants and has his Common Purpose committee working in every large company and charity, within government and BBC executive offices. You have to be invited to join Common Purpose. These people are your Guardians. The thing is folks, they are not interested in guarding you, they just want to protect themselves and they are getting a little hot under their crisp white collars because we can now see them playing in our own backyard.

How much more obvious does it need to be before the Great British Public get bored of these petty minded peddlers and do something more interesting instead?

Please do your own research and pass it on to friends and family because the picture is so obvious. The most effective means of avoiding detection is through accusing someone or something else of the same wrongdoing. As if our Government’s arms of control don’t use phone hacking (or should we say ‘tapping’, it sounds less intrusive) to pry into our secret lives not to mention a barrage of other tactics to keep tabs on us all, keep us stupefied, blinkered and playing their games.

We don’t have any guardians, just a small bunch of power crazy psycho’s intent on conquering the world or maybe they are not big enough to take the world so they settle for young girls and boys. How very depraved this system is.

So, once you get the picture, now what? Get angry, yes.. Get scared, probably a little.. Get busy heading the other way? Most definitely! And when it comes to making sense of it all, seek to challenge every piece of knowledge that someone or something else has given you as ‘the way things are’. Question everything, draw your own conclusions and don’t stop because there is no end of unique information out there and once you start to put things together, the world might just start to make more sense than it has ever done before. And you know what? You might end up realising that the world is the way it is because so many of us have been lead to believe that this is just the way things are when in actual fact we have all been duped to an unbelievable degree. . . and a little while after that you might realize a few more things and get less angry about it all. You have just gotta get over your own intelligence to let it in.
